Santa Fe, NM

Mindy had wanted to visit Santa Fe, NM, which is not a short drive from Durango, but I couldn't imagine ever again being closer than now, so we resolved to get to Santa Fe despite the distance.

The only goal for today was to get to Durango, Colorado at some point. We started the day in Grand Junction and we had about 200 milles of the San Juan Range to enjoy on our way to Durango.

Mindy and I left Salt Lake City after work and drove to Grand Junction, CO to spend the night. The drive was peaceful. The sunset lighting on the red rocks of eastern Utah was awesome.

Sadly, we had to leave Las Vegas in the late morning. The drive back to Salt Lake City wasn't too bad. We even spent some time by the Virgin River in its namesake canyon in Arizona.

Mindy and I spent some time relaxing by the pool. In the evening, we had the opportunity to see Lewis Black perform at the Mirage. I had always been a fan of his, but seeing him perform in person only made me appreciate his comedy even more.

Let's Go to Vegas

Mindy and I left chilly Salt Lake City early in the morning and arrived in balmy Las Vegas in the afternoon. Dinner at the Eiffel Tower Restaurant at Paris Las Vegas (also our hotel for this trip) was superb.

After packing my things, I drove my familiar route to my old job. Instead, I only met my former co-workers at Five Guys for lunch. We talked for a couple hours, and it was great to see Jared, Wesley and Jonathan.

The Last Day of the Ski Season, Already?

ALTA, UT; SNOWBIRD, UT — Fresh tracks in the East Castle area of Alta Ski Area.

In the evening after skiing, I went over to Paul and Kim's for a few hours. It was great to see them.

Feels Good to Be Back

The flight to Salt Lake City from Boston was the most smooth airline flight I think I've ever taken. I arrived in Salt Lake City in the mid-morning. The views flyig into the airport were amazing. Of particular interest was the way some leftover clouds from a recent storm had evaporated off the tops of the Wasatch peaks.
